JOGINDER WAR MEMORIAL INAUGURATED AT BUM LA

Subedar Joginder Singh, 1st Battalion Sikh Regiment, received the highest gallantry award ParamVir Chakra in the Eastern Theatre during the 1962 Sino-Indian war. Under the patronage of Arunachal Pradesh government and with the efforts of Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu, a war memorial has been constructed at Bum La, where he made the supreme sacrifice.

The Indian Army organised the inauguration ceremony of Joginder War Memorial at Bum La coinciding with the day on which the Battle of Tongpen La (Bum La) took place in 1962. Kulwant Kaur, daughter of Sub Joginder Singh, inaugurated the war memorial in the presence of Pema Khandu and numerous political leaders, State Government and senior Army officials including Arunachal Pradesh’s Health Minister Alo Libang, Agriculture Minister Tage Taki, MLA Lum La Jombey Tashi, MLA Dirang Phurpa Tsering, MLA Tawang Tsering Tashi, DGP RP Upadhyaya, Major General SC Mohanty, Security Adviser to Government of Arunachal Pradesh, GOC Ball of Fire Division and Commander Tawang Brigade. The CM asserted that this war memorial is a befitting tribute to Sub Joginder Singh and his comrades who made the supreme sacrifice in the 1962 war.
