Thirty-seven nursing graduates were commissioned into the Military Nursing Services at the remarkable Commissioning Ceremony held at the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College Pune earlier this week. Lt Gen Nardeep Naithani, Director and Commandant AFMC was the chief guest for the occasion.
In view of Covid 19 pandemic, the guests were limited to bare minimum. The ceremony was graced by the virtual presence of General Officers, Commandants, Principal Matrons, Senior Officers of Pune Garrison and teachers and parents.
Chief guest while addressing the newly commissioned officers stated that the Military Nursing Service officers are rendering exemplary care to the troops and their families in hospitals located in Peace Stations, difficult terrains, CI ops areas, missions in India and abroad and also in the unprecedented pandemic situation. He urged them to uphold the supreme traditions of the service. He applauded Brig Amita Devrani, Principal and the faculty of College of Nursing for their untiring effort in guiding and preparing professional nurses for the defence services.
The newly commissioned Nursing Officers took oath dedicating themselves to the serve the nation. The Chief Guest felicitated the meritorious students. Lt Lakshmi S. was awarded, Lt Gen K.S. Master memorial silver medal and Silver Jubilee rolling trophy for securing first position in four-year BSc Nursing University examination. Gen Cariappa Rolling trophy for best all round nursing student was awarded to Lt Seema. Silver jubilee rolling trophy and certificate of merit for best bedside nurse was awarded to Lt Kesiya C. Luke.
