The 110th anniversary of the Corps of Signals of the Indian Army was celebrated on Monday by all Signal units in Southern Command, observing the laid-down protocols for Covid-19. Today, Signals is well poised to exploit the state-of-the-art modern communication technologies for meeting the challenging requirements of the Indian Army and to operate in a multi-dimensional threat environment across the entire spectrum of conflict re-affirming their motto—‘TEEVRA CHAUKAS’. The current Covid times have seen the Southern Star Signallers acting as enablers for the frontline workers to reach out and stay in touch with everyone through innovative tele and video conferencing means, thereby playing a major role in the Indian Army’s response to the pandemic.
Since its inception in 1911, the Corps of Signals has played a pivotal role in all operations overcoming all challenges successfully. The Corps has always been at the forefront of technology-driven operational paradigms. The last three decades have seen major advances in computing as well as Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Corps of Signals has harnessed ICT effectively for a faster tempo and successful conduct of operations based on advances towards the digitised battle space. On the occasion of their Raising Day, a lecture on “Disruptive Technologies: A New Dimension of Warfare” was organised for Officers and Signallers of Southern Command followed by an invigorating discussion over tea.
In addition, the Signallers contributed and inaugurated Internet facility for patients wards in Command Hospital, Southern Command.
