SVV CELEBRATIONS HELD AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN SRINAGAR CITY

Swarnim Vijay Varsh is being celebrated across the nation to mark the victory of India in the Indo Pak War 1971. The Victory Flame which was lit by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 16th December 2020, reached Badami Bagh Cantonment on Monday. The flame entered Badami Bagh Cantonment from Somnath Dwar. Soldiers, their families, school children, teachers and Defence Civilian employees participated in the event with great fervor.

Thereafter the Victory Flame was taken out on Gupkar Road and NH-44. 100 volunteers from White Globe Organisation and Kashmir Road Safety Organisation participated in the victory run on Gupkar Road.

As part of the rally, the Tricolour was also unfurled at Gupkar Chowk by Corporators of Srinagar Municipal Corporation. Later in the day, the Swarnim Vijay Varsh Victory Flame, was carried atop the Hari Parbat Fort by eminent sports personalities of Kashmir. Some of the sports icons who were part of the historical Victory run on the Hari Parbat were Shri Gul Mustafa Dev, a former Winter Olympian and Miss Nahida Manzoor, the first Kashmiri Woman to scale Mt Everest.

‘SWARNIM VIJAY MASHAAL’ IN SRINAGAR CITY

Citizens of Srinagar came out on the streets in large numbers to honour the flame. Various events were organised in different parts of the city. NCC Cadets and citizens accompanied, the ‘Victory Flame’ with great pomp and show on boats of SDRF/NDRF and J&K Tourism through the Jhelum River in a unique boat rally. The Victory Flame was also carried by local NGOs and civilians through Srinagar City. As a mark of solidarity, road side events were organised by citizens and local NGO’s at Lalded Hospital, Iqbal Park, Pratap Park, Jogger’s Park and Rajbagh to pay homage to the ‘Victory Flame’. Each road side event was attended by prominent citizens, Corporators from SMC, DDC Chairpersons and DDC members. The function included a homage ceremony, felicitation of 1971 War Veterans /Ex-Servicemen and cultural programme by school children and Hindustan Scouts & Guides.
