With the Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagging off the ‘Padyatra’ (Freedom March) from Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad, and inaugurating the curtain raiser activities of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’, a series of events will be organised by the Government of India to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence launched 75 weeks before 15 August 2022. The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has taken upon itself to launch a nationwide action plan to promote one social activity every month commencing from March 2021.

Keeping with the five pillars of freedom struggle, Ideas at 75, Achievements at 75, Actions at 75 and Resolves at 75 as guiding force for urging the youth to take the responsibility for fulfilling the nation’s efforts in showcasing the achievements of our national heroes, the National Cadet Corps today maintained and paid respect to statues of 75 prominent national icons in 75 cities all over the country for the month of March 2021. The cadets spread awareness about the contributions of these personalities through awareness lectures, nukkad nataks, poetry recitals and displayed their achievements through posters and banners.

During the coming months, the National Cadet Corps will promote Social Service and Community Development activities through various innovative means throughout the nation as a run up to 75 years of India’s Independence to be celebrated on 15 August 2022. The National Cadet Corps, a premier uniformed youth organisation of  the country, has contributed significantly in nation building since its inception. It has transformed the lives of millions of youth by shaping their character and showing them the path of ‘Unity and Discipline’, the motto of NCC. The corps has made notable and praiseworthy contributions in spreading awareness among the masses on important issues like water conservation, environment protection, digital awareness and Swachhta Abhiyan.

CLEANLINESS DRIVE OF STATUES IN GUJARAT

India will be celebrating its 75th Independence Day on 15 August 2021 and as part of these celebrations, statues of Military Heroes and prominent and influential apolitical figures were cleaned in multiple locations all over Gujarat by the NCC cadets of Gujarat Directorate, to spread awareness about the personalities whose statues are being cleaned. In addition, Awareness Lectures/Poetry Recital/Nukkad Natak were also conducted by the cadets on patriotic and cleanliness themes.

Talks were also given by the cadets about the statues to spread awareness about the contribution made by the personality, whose statue was been cleaned. In addition, the cadets also posted a large number of messages on the social media platform highlighting the importance of cleanliness. The District administration actively cooperated in the overall conduct of the event. The efforts of the cadets in paying tribute to our National heroes were widely appreciated by the local population. Major General Arvind Kapoor, Additional Director General, National Cadet Corps, Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu complimented the efforts of the cadets and advised the cadets to continue maintaining these statues in future as well.

SPECIAL COMMUNITY INTERACTION

To commemorate the 75 years of Independence, a Special Community Interaction Programme was conducted by Coast Guard District Headquarters Number 1, Porbandar concurrently at 07 different places namely Subhash Nagar, Miyani, Navi-Bandar, Mangrol, Veraval, Navabandar and Jafarabad.

The Special Community Interaction Programme was coordinated through the head of Fishing Communities, local Police and local leaders. During the session, Indian Coast Guard (ICG) representatives reiterated the legacy of the India’s freedom struggle. The Coast Guard team appraised the fishing community of importance of Life raft, Life jacket, Life buoy and Distress Alert Transponders (DATs). The usage of Helo rescue strap was also demonstrated. The session was concluded with brief address by ICG representatives on the importance of unity in diversity and marking this day as the commencement of celebration of 75 years of Independence.

CELEBRATIONS AT SAINIK SCHOOL BALACHADI

To commemorate the anniversary of launch of Dandi March and in line with the celebration of 75 Years of India’s Independence, Sainik School Balachadi, Jamnagar celebrated the “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav” in school campus. On this occasion, Sainik School Balachadi organised an Interactive session on Indian Freedom Movement which was well presented by Raghesh P.R., HoD, Social Science. The presentation helped the students to make them aware about Indian freedom movement and various incidents occurred in past to achieve freedom. Creative writing activity was also conducted to give this occasion an apt tribute. A total of 132 cadets from class X and XII participated enthusiastically in the event by making posters, greeting messages and writing slogans. While addressing the gathering, Lieutenant Commander Manu Arora, Vice Principal, also highlighted the importance of sacrifices made by Indian legends to achieve freedom. He reminded students about their duty as a citizen to maintain the integrity of freedom of the nation.
